Overview
There has been a notable increase of incident report submissions through British Rowing’s and Paddle UK’s online incident reporting systems, highlighting issues between paddlers and rowers on shared waterways. This has prompted a collaborative response from the governing bodies of both sports.
This rise in on-water issues, underscored the need for a unified approach to safety and waterway etiquette. Consequently, Paddle UK and British Rowing have reviewed existing guidance, in an aim to modernise and raise awareness, to mitigate these incidents and foster a safer, more cooperative environment for all water users.
This reviewed guidance, Guidance for Rowers and Paddlers on Shared Waters which we hope reduces the amount of incidents between paddlers and rowers, can be found here.
