Paddle UK has opened applications for two members to join a new Canoe Sprint Junior Advisory Group.
The group will bring together people from across the canoe sprint community to create and develop a clear and consistent junior development philosophy, and it will advise on a number of key matters relating to junior development.
Prospective members should have a passion for junior racing development across canoe sprint, with experience of the talent pathway, which could be as either an athlete, coach, volunteer or parent, and an understanding of selection policies and the performance pathway.
James Train, head of performance development for canoe sprint, who will chair the group said:
“It is hoped this group will streamline the previous structures that we have previously had in place.
“More recently, the areas of responsibility for the GB Junior Training Squad Steering groups and the Junior Selection Policy Advisory Group have started to overlap which has led to an inefficient use of time, particularly those who volunteer their time.
“The new group will allow more joined up and open conversations to create solutions and best ways forward to support our junior athletes.”
Further details about the role can be found here
The group will be comprised:
- Head of Performance Development – Canoe Sprint – Chair
- Flatwater Pathway Lead – Paddle UK
- Head of Pathways & Performance – Paddle Scotland
- Sprint Racing Committee representative
- Up to 2 Junior Community representatives
