Iona Patrick headlined the third day of the Junior and U23 Wild Water European Championships, as she topped the women’s K1 junior heats.
Eight Brits progressed to the latter stages of the sprint competition which gets underway tomorrow morning.
It was a fantastic performance from 18-year-old Patrick ,as she clocked an impressive time of 1:01.381 to top the standings, comfortably booking her place in tomorrow morning’s final.
Huw Singleton also starred in Friday’s racing as he claimed a top five finish in the men’s junior kayak first heats to progress in his respective final.
He posted 52.102 at his first attempt to safely make his way through to the top 15 tomorrow.
Singleton will be joined by Will Stevely in tomorrow’s junior final. He required the second attempt to progress, but made the top ten needed to secure his place.
Kerry Christie will contest two sprint finals tomorrow as she looks to add to her medal success this weekend.
Alongside sister Emma, the duo won the U23 women’s C2 sprint heats by some margin to take their place in tomorrow’s final.
Kerry will also race the U23 women’s kayak, as she made it through in the second run with a time of 1:01.715.
Molly Sandercock secured a place in the final of the U23 women’s C1, whilst Emily MacLean achieved the same result in the junior women’s C1.
Ciara Maloney and Elsie Landsborough will also be in the final of the junior C2 women after winning their first international medal in the classic.
