Six medals have been awarded to athletes representing Great Britain at the Fisu World University Championships Canoe Sports, in Portugal.
The event, which took place from 21 – 24 August in Montemor-O-Velho, saw Thomas Lambert win three sprint silver medals in the men’s C1 500m, 1,000m and 5,000m.
There was further success in the men’s K1 sprint 5,000m after Finn Cadell won silver.
In the K1 marathon, Matt Collinge and Tim Dowden, finished in silver and bronze position behind Tiago Henriques of Portugal.
Amy Green and Katie Pocklington were 5th in the K2 women’s 200m and Jessica Urquhart came sixth in the K1 women’s 5,000m.
In the K1 marathon final, Freya Peters and Katie Brookes came 6th and 7th.

“We wanted to target this event as an opportunity for U23 athletes to gain more experience racing at an international level.
“The event saw a record number of nations attending which gave a great level of competition to the event and it was fantastic to see all of the GB athletes be competitive with many progressing straight through to their respective A finals.
“It was great to travel as a combined Sprint and Marathon team and to see the level of support that the athletes and coaches gave to each member of the team competing.”
