Paddle UK is saddened to have learnt of the sudden passing of Scott Ritchie, a member of both the British slalom and wild water racing teams.
Scott, aged 18, was an extremely ambitious and talented young paddler who recently competed in kayak cross at the Junior World Championships in Liptovsky Mikulas, Slovakia.
As well as his passion for canoe slalom, Scott successfully competed in wild water racing for GB teams and achieving commendable results whilst competing against the best in the world.
Scott was a member of Pinkston Panthers and joined in 2015 after completing a week at the summer school.
Our thoughts and condolences go out to Scott’s family, friends, teammates and coaches at this time.
A celebration of Scott’s life will be held in Glasgow on Friday 27 September at 10am at Kelvinbridge Parish Church, 9 Garriochmill Road, G20 6JR.
Thereafter, there will be a short service at 11:15am at Glasgow Crematorium, 19 Tresta Road, G23 5AA followed by a buffet lunch and to share memories of Scott at the Terrace, Glasgow Grosvenor Hotel, 1-9 Grosvenor Terrace, G12 0TA.
Anyone wishing to donate in Scott’s memory can contribute to a grove created on the Trees for Life website.
Alternatively, you can make a donation at the church which will be passed on to a sports or medical related charity. Floral tributes will be from family members only.
