Following the approval by members of Nick Donald as the new Chair of Paddle UK at the Annual General Meeting, Paddle UK is now actively recruiting for two new independent directors to join the Board.
Nick has been on the Board of Paddle UK since March 2022 and chaired the Finance & Audit Committee. He is also a member of the Finance Commission of the International Canoe Federation. He succeeds Professor John Coyne CBE, after eight years of service.
The Annual General Meeting also saw Ashley Hunter confirmed as the Director nominated by Paddle Northern Ireland and Caroline Barnes was invited to speak after being elected as a Board Director, following a ballot of the Paddle UK (England) membership.
With Nick in post as Chair and Richard Boreham standing down as an independent Board director, after serving for eight years, Paddle UK has started the recruitment process for two two key Board positions with specific expertise in finance and digital transformation:
Independent Non-Executive Director & Chair of the Finance & Audit Committee
This role provides critical oversight and scrutiny of budgeting, financial policies, procedures, and controls, as well as support the preparation and presentation of year-end accounts.
The successful candidate will hold a recognised accountancy qualification and have significant experience in finance, senior management and ideally previous Board experience.
Independent Non-Executive Director – Digital Transformation & IT
With expertise in digital transformation and IT, this person will provide strategic oversight, ensuring that the organisation’s digital and IT strategies align with its overall objectives and support long-term goals.

As part of a new era, there will also be plans to establish a new Paddle UK Paddle England Assembly, to ensure key voices across England are represented at Board level.
