Paddle UK is proud to be supporting SUPERCHAMPS, a new stand up paddleboard (SUP) event in Torquay, Devon.
SUPERCHAMPS, which will be held from 27-29 September – is set to be a thrilling festival of SUP racing and competitions.
Whether you’re new to SUP racing or an elite paddler, there’s something for everyone over the weekend with 7 different races. The event will also feature a SUP polo tournament and more than 30 brands showcasing the latest water sports gear at the expo.
The first 100 Paddle UK members can get a 10% discount on entries to the events, the code can be found in the latest members enews (19 September 2024).
On Saturday 28 September Lee Pooley, Director of Recreation & Development at Paddle UK, will be introducing the organisation’s SUP plan in its role as a national governing body. He said:
“We want the NGB to ensure that the paddling community are aware of how we can work together to achieve our respective goals over the next 18 months.
“Paddle UK is committed to support those who are new to paddleboarding through to those competing internationally. We’d like to develop strong partnerships and continue to invest in safety campaigning and messaging”.
The SUP plan along with other presentations and demonstrations will be held at the Hampton by Hilton conference hall, just 50 metres from the race action.

Paddle UK – SUP Plan
Paddle UK, a national governing body for stand up paddleboard aims to:
- Raise the profile and awareness of associated benefits when SUP including relaxation, wellbeing, and nature
- Continue to work with the established SUP forums to ensure strong links with the wider audience
- Work with identified influencers to reach and engage with the wider audience
- Support and have presence at identified SUP events
- Provide SUP paddlers with specific membership benefits and service
- Explore the opportunities to host an ICF SUP World Cup
- Develop and promote SUP safety advice, informed by research and insight
- Establish criteria for SUP Events and Competitions offering high quality provision and clear competition pathways
- Establish a SUP Race webpage to inform participants and competitors of up-and-coming SUP events, selection information and training opportunities
- Work in collaboration with manufacturers and retailers to produce point-of-sale safety messaging
- Work collaboratively to share SUP safety messaging advice through a network of stakeholders
- Develop our existing incident reporting system to help in developing shared understanding of incident trends.
