Paddle UK is pleased to announce its sponsorship of the 2025 GBSUP Race Series, creating exciting new opportunities for paddlers to engage with Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) racing.
This sponsorship will enable Paddle UK members who would like to take part in the series, which takes place across the UK between May and October 2025, discounted entry fees.
The sponsorship is part of Paddle UK’s commitment to fostering the next generation of SUP talent and supporting the growth of the sport, and is fully subsidising race entry for all junior participants in the two championship events in June and July.
Lee Pooley, Director of Recreation and Development at Paddle UK, said:
“Building on our support for SUP 12, Race to the Castle, and SUPERChamps, I am delighted that we are now partnering with GBSUP and their race series this year.
“This collaboration will not only provide benefits for Paddle UK members but will also significantly raise the profile of SUP racing across the UK. I am particularly pleased that we can offer fully subsidised entry for juniors in the championship events, which I hope will attract and encourage the next generation of SUP stars.”
Scott Warren, Chair of GBSUP and Events & Partnerships Director, said:
“We’re absolutely thrilled about this partnership between Paddle UK and GBSUP. It feels like a natural and incredibly positive step forward for SUP racing.
“Our combined strengths focusing on areas such as safety, governance, helping paddlers progress, and delivering high-quality events is genuinely exciting.
“I truly believe that by working together, we’re going to create an even better and more vibrant SUP paddling community for everyone involved, at every single level.”
It is suitable for experienced paddlers who want a more competitive experience and open to all age groups from 12-years upwards.
Inflatable and hard boards can be used and race distances range from short sprints of 200 metres to long-distance races that can exceed 35 km.
Technical races, often 1-5 km, involve numerous turns and can be held in various locations, including inland waterways, and coastal settings.
Since becoming the national governing body for SUP in 2023, Paddle UK has committed to support the growth and development of all aspects of paddlesport, from grassroots participation to competitive racing. The collaboration with GBSUP promises an exciting season for SUP racers and aspiring athletes across England and Wales.
