Paddle England’s Athlete Support Fund is open for applications from eligible English athletes competing internationally.
The purpose of the fund is to provide some financial assistance to support athletes competing at British or English team representative competitions.
Previously we have supported people with varied circumstances, including care leavers, carers, university students claiming the full grant provision, or families who are undergoing significant financial hardship.

Athletes who received funding in 2024
Below, athletes who we have previously supported, give their thoughts about the fund.
Shaun Cook
“I am very grateful for the scheme as it has provided me the opportunity to compete in sport that I love, at amazing venues that I would have been unable to attend otherwise.
“I found the application process very simple and received a response shortly after.”
Freya Peters
“The Athlete Support Fund made it possible for me to attend international competitions which I otherwise would have been unable to finance.
“Support like this is essential to keep the sport accessible and consequently ensure that our international racing teams consist of the athletes who are best placed to perform rather than simply those who can afford to attend.
“I am grateful for the support this fund has provided in facilitating my international racing.”
Rosemary Edwards
“The Paddle England funding scheme is quick and easy to apply for and the help received was hugely beneficial for my year of training and competing.
“It allowed me to travel worldwide to training camps in South Africa with the world’s best paddlers as well as racing at the European and World surf ski Championships in the Azores and Madeira.
“The growth and improvement in my paddling this year has been significant , and I’m hugely grateful to Paddle England for providing athletes with the opportunity to achieve there goals and dreams.”
Molly Sandercock
“[The Athlete Support Fund] helped to reduce the burden of racing, so it allowed me to race without worrying about the cost so much.”
Philippe Ehrnrooth
“When I was selected to represent GB in 2024 for the Euros and Worlds I applied to the the Paddle England support fund to help me to travel to the events.
“It was easy to apply and quick to receive the funds.
“I would not have managed to travel to these regattas without the assistance and I gained such invaluable experience at these events that I went on to win a silver medal at the Olympic Hopefuls, in September 2024.”
