Edwards led the way from the first run with an impressive score of 2,596.67 points.
He improved his total to 2,820.00 with his last ride.
Wilson, 28, put together a wonderful routine to take his tally to an incredible 3,246.67.
“There are a lot of emotions, there is a lot of joy and a lot of relief too. That was so much fun to be a part of,” Wilson told the ICF.
“Absolutely superb from Alex, I have never seen such beautiful paddling. It was a masterclass.
“I wanted to get that 3,000 points and when I hit the floor of the river instead of getting scared, I just kept telling myself to stay there and that was it.”

Ottilie Robinson-Shaw stated her intent on the opening day of the Canoe Freestyle World Championships, dominating the qualification for both the K1 and the squirt prelims in Platting, Germany.
With low water levels disrupting day one, the women’s K1 prelims opened proceedings for the competition, with Ottilie putting down a score of 1608.33, almost double the total of her closest rival Germany’s Anne Sommerauer.
Team mate Rebeka Green (678.33) qualified in seventh, with Emma Witherford (376.67) and Sienna Edwards (336.67) in 15th and 16th respectively. They have all secured their spots in the next round of the women’s K1.
Tamsyn McConchie put the disappointment of finishing 35th in the kayak by securing her spot in the next round of the women’s squirt.
She scored 1964.66 to qualify in second place behind clear leader, Ottilie, who scored a massive 4500.00.
Sophie Macken will also progress after scoring 714.67.
“I always feel a bit nervous in the prelims and I never sleep very well the night before but I do it and think that wasn’t too bad. I just have to paddle like I normally do,” said Robinson-Shaw.
“I have worked really hard for almost a decade now and I think it just makes competing easier as you can fall back on your skills.
“I was definitely not at my full potential in squirt boating but I am very proud of my rides and just showing up and laying down some big scores.”
This afternoon saw the men’s squirt athletes take to the River Isar and it was once again Great Britain who dominated.
With a score of 4953.33, Great Britain’s Sam Wilson finished in top spot – who said his previous best score for a single run was 1,700.
“I am feeling really excited for the next rounds,” said Wilson.
“It’s really cool to be out in the boat and having fun.
“I am super critical of myself so I am always going to find something to improve and there were a couple of little things I was not happy with. I don’t want to get carried away.
“I came third at the 2019 World Championships but I only got just under 1,000 points so it’s really exciting to see that improvement of my paddling.”
Compatriot Alex Edwards qualified in second with 3853 points and David Rogers (1700) was in 9th place overall to secure spots in the next round.
In the final event of the day, Harvey Harwood booked his spot in the next round of the OC1, after scoring 61.67 to finish 3rd in the prelims. Connor Proud finished in 9th.
The competition will resume tomorrow but with the schedule subject to change according to river levels.
