More coaching support will be made available for English based slalom paddlers following the creation of new England Slalom White Water Training Camps.
The camps have been created to support of a greater number of accessible training opportunities for people not supported on a formal development programme.
Following the success of pilot camp weekends during 2024 and thanks to funding from the England Canoe Slalom Committee a series of white water training camps will be accessible to English Slalom paddlers over the 2024/25 winter period.
Sessions will be focused on the advancement of individual’s technical and feature based competencies (as detailed in parts 3 and 4 of the Slalom Technical Progression Guide).
Daniel Thompson, Slalom Foundations and Support Lead said
“As a result of the findings of the independent research into barriers and facilitators for slalom competition in the UK and in anticipation of a Slalom development plan, we believe these camps will make a real difference and provide more opportunities for more people.
“We want more people to feel that their slalom skills are developing, enhancing their motivation, enjoyment and eventual long term retention and association with the sport.”
Full details of these camps can be found in the eligibility criteria and a calendar of events can be found HERE.
