Paddle UK athlete Emma Wiggs MBE has been awarded an honorary doctorate from Loughborough University in recognition of her exceptional sporting achievements and commitment to driving inclusion, diversity, and equality in sport.
Wiggs is one of Britain’s most decorated paracanoeists, with three Paralympic gold medals, 12 world titles, and multiple European crowns to her name.
Off the water, she has become a powerful advocate for female representation and disability inclusion, using her platform to inspire change across the sporting landscape.
She has also worked closely with Loughborough’s Para Sport team, contributing to research and innovation aimed at advancing opportunities for disabled athletes.
Wiggs is set to join the University’s Para Sport Cluster advisory board later this year.
“It’s an incredible privilege,” says Wiggs.
“Loughborough has such a proud history of sporting excellence, and I’m grateful to be recognised not just for my performances, but for the work I care so deeply about.”
Everyone at Paddle UK sends their congratulations to Emma on this well-deserved recognition.
