Day two of the 2024 ICF SUP World Championships in Sarasota, Florida, saw the technical racing head to the USA.
Anna Little has provided a full round up of the second day of racing:
Day two of the competiton saw tougher conditions, including strong winds for the technical heats.
Another fantastic performance from Verity Thomas saw her win her heat in the over 40’s and go through to the quarter finals
Blue Ewer was super strong as he came second in the men’s open and qualifies for the quarter finals.
Paul Drake came second in his over 50 heat & Andrew Tee came 5th as they both progressed to the quarter finals.
Andrew Tee took an unfortunate tumble in the choppy conditions and didn’t get through, but Paul Drake came 4th in his round and progresses to the semi finals.
GB athletes Chris McDonald, Jonathan Sherwin, Glen Sloss, Sara Maxey & Annie Ridsdill Smith all raced in the qualifiers against some super strong people, however did not make it to the next round. Well done to them all.
James Little and Max Tee raced in the Junior Open Men, but sadly both did not qualify to the next round but were powerful in their fast heats.
Will Keetley raced in the open men’s stacked tech heat & didn’t make the top 4 required to proceed to the next round.
Tomorrow sees the sprints return for the latter stages of competition with James Little & Max Tee in the junior men’s competition .
Blue Ewer and Will Keetley will take on the Open men sprints, whilst Paul Drake , Anna Little, Annie Ridsdill Smith & Emma Adams are in the over 50’s sprints.
