The British Wildwater team is ready to take on the world’s best as they head to České Budějovice, Czechia for the 2025 ICF Wildwater Sprint World Championships, starting today.
The event will see athletes race in explosive short-course sprints that demand speed, precision and technical skill. Great Britain has named a full squad across kayak and canoe classes, blending international experience with exciting new talent.
In the Men’s Kayak, Britain fields a strong line-up with Jacob Holmes, Freddie Brown, Eddie Mackintosh and Alex Sheppy. Holmes and Brown have shown promise on the World Cup circuit, while Mackintosh and Sheppy bring consistency and depth to the squad.
The Women’s K1 team features Kerry Christie, Katie Pocklington, Lucy Guest and Victoria Murray. Christie’s pace and Pocklington’s experience make them names to watch, while Guest and Murray continue to rise through the international ranks.
In Men’s Canoe, Britain is represented by Andrew Crowhurst, Patrick Marriott, Nicholas Boreham and Regan Toop. Crowhurst and Marriott bring strength and technical skill, while Boreham and Toop add youthful energy to the line-up.
The Women’s C1 squad includes Sophie Cameron, Freya Pryce, Kerry Christie and Kate Kent. Cameron and Pryce are among Britain’s most consistent performers, with Christie doubling up across kayak and canoe events.
Britain will also field competitive pairs in the C2 classes, including the Christie sisters Kerry and Emma, with Crowhurst also partnering with Harry Sewell-Catchpole and Holmes teaming up with Robert Jefferies. These combinations highlight the squad’s versatility and ambition to challenge across multiple categories.
C2 will also see Patrick Marriott and Nicolas Boreham, Ciara Maloney with Elsie Landsborough, Freya Pryce and Laura Milne, as well as Sophie Cameron with Victoria Murray.
The Championships will see intense competition from traditional wildwater powerhouses including France, Germany and host nation Czechia, but the British team is aiming to reach multiple finals and push for podium finishes in both individual and team events.
