Paddle UK is excited to open applications for Chair of the Inclusion Advisory Group, and one non-independent member to the Group. After joining the IAG at its inception in 2021, we bid farewell to John McCalla-Leacy and Eilidh Gibson – we wish them the best of luck in their future endeavours, and look forward to welcoming new members to the IAG!
Do you like the sound of championing diversity across paddlesport, and advocating for and supporting the delivery of #WePaddleTogether, to make our sport and activities more accessible, inclusive and welcoming? Joining the IAG could be a role for you!
The IAG has been integral to some of Paddle UK’s most important equality, diversity and inclusion work, including the development of #WePaddleTogether, our neurodiversity mini-series; and informing leadership awareness at Paddle UK. The IAG has been in place for three years so far, and has been essential in ensuring diverse lived experiences inform the work Paddle UK delivers.
The IAG is currently in need of a new non-independent member and Chair. The ideal person should be passionate about supporting change, open to sharing their personal experiences of paddling, and someone who wants to work with a group to create creative solutions and recommendations to join the IAG as a member. The Chair is responsible for overseeing IAG members and meetings, and the running of the Group, and they are a crucial link between the wider organisation and the IAG. The ideal person should have chairing experience, experience leading and supporting groups effectively, have a good understanding of the barriers under-represented groups face, and an ability to respond positively to challenge.
If these opportunities and skill sets sound like you, we would love to hear from you! For more information about being on the Inclusion Advisory Group, or Paddle UK as an organisation, please refer to the volunteer pack below, or visit the IAG page on our website.

If you wish to apply, please complete the online application form by 5:00pm on Friday 22nd November 2024. If you wish to apply in an alternative format, please contact or call 0115 896 6594.
Paddle UK recognises the need for our advisory groups to be representative of the paddling community, and wider society. As the IAG focuses on equality, diversity and inclusion, Paddle UK is committed to recruiting members who represent a wide range of backgrounds, identities and experiences. Currently, there is underrepresentation by members with disabilities, and those from ethnically diverse backgrounds, and therefore we encourage applications from candidates from these backgrounds. Paddle UK will also be offering additional shortlisting opportunities for candidates with these backgrounds.
