Paddle UK is seeking to appoint a Chair of Disciplinary and Appeals and new members to our Disciplinary and Appeal Panel Register. These voluntary roles are vital in upholding the integrity of our sport, ensuring fair processes, and supporting the application of Paddle UK’s regulations, codes, and policies.
Paddle UK’s Disciplinary and Appeal Panel Register provides a pool of suitably qualified and experienced individuals who are trained in the application of Paddle UK regulations, codes, policies and its statement of values. These individuals are available to be appointed to a Disciplinary Panel or to an Appeal Panel to be heard in accordance with Paddle UK’s:
- Disciplinary and Appeal Regulations;
- World Class Programme Qualification Appeals Procedure;
- Competition Selection Appeals Procedure;
- Safeguarding Appeal Procedure;
- Athlete Disciplinary Policy
Chair of Disciplinary and Appeals
We are seeking to appoint a Chair of Disciplinary and Appeals. The Chair will supervise and direct members of the Paddle UK Disciplinary and Appeal Panel Register and execute the powers conferred through relevant Paddle UK Policies and Procedures. The Chair of Disciplinary and Appeals may also sit on Panels where appropriate.
The Chair of Disciplinary and Appeals will be a qualified solicitor, barrister, or judge with preferably at least 6 years’ experience in disciplinary, disputes and/or appeals. In addition they will need to have an understanding of sport at grassroots, amateur, elite and/or Olympic level and be able to assess, dissect and make informed decisions concerning evidence and arguments brought before a Panel (in writing, orally or by other methods).
Members of Disciplinary and Appeals Panel Register
We are also seeking to appoint members to the Paddle UK Disciplinary and Appeals Panel Register. Members will be appointed to sit on Disciplinary or Appeal Panels and conduct hearings in line with Paddle UK’s policies and procedures.
They will work collaboratively with other panel members to ensure decisions are well-reasoned, accurate, and clearly communicated. The successful applicants will be expected to have knowledge of, or experience in one or more of; the Legal profession, Disciplinary Procedures, Judicial Process, Employment Processes/Tribunals/Case Management, Sports Rules, Elite sport and/or paddlesports. In addition, they will need to have an understanding of sport at grassroots, amateur, elite and/or Olympic level.
