Congratulations to Adam Burgess, who has been shortlisted for British Elite Athlete Association’s January Athlete of the Month.
Adam has been shortlisted alongside Mia Brookes (snowboarding), Team Hall (bobsleigh) and Penny Healey (archery).
This athlete-led prize celebrates the sporting achievements and personal triumphs of Britain’s elite sportspeople, with the winner selected by those on the World Class Programme.
Adam won gold at the Oceania Championships in Penrith, Australia, a competition he’d been setting his sights on winning since being a young athlete.
He was a model of consistency throughout, winning in qualifying and finishing third in the semi-final before finishing the final more than half a second ahead of the rest of the field.
Elite athletes can vote for their Athlete of the Month by heading to their latest BEAA email, with the winner to be confirmed shortly.
Former elite athletes can get involved via the British Elite Athletes Alumni app – which they can register for here!
